The Las Vegas Raiders are having a dreadfully disappointing season once again. Somehow, things have managed to get worse. The Raiders will bench Derek Carr for the remaining two games. Backup QB Jarrett Stidham will be replacing the longtime starter under center.

Following an abysmal start to the Josh McDaniels regime, it appears the Raiders are all in on starting anew for next year. A move like this always suggests the players’ time is up with their team. Some are suggesting that the Raiders are trying to simply get out of paying Carr and that in large part is probably true. His play on the field has been subpar. And, in order to do that, Carr needs to fail his physical. Either way, a team trying to get out of paying their player is basically the final nail in the coffin. This is especially true when said player took an already team-friendly deal.

Alas, for the Raiders, the deal was no longer team friendly. The team had high hopes coming into the season after hiring Josh McDaniels in addition to trading for superstar receiver Davante Adams. Now sitting at 6-9, the Raiders’ playoff hopes are dead. Players have been voicing their frustrations in the media and the team is in a worse state than they were last year. That is saying something considering their former head coach was fired and their best receiver was arrested last year.

One has to wonder how Carr and Adams are reacting to the news. Adams is on record saying a big reason he wanted to play for the Raiders was to play with is former Fresno State teammate. Adams is not getting any younger and neither is star TE Darren Waller, so one has to wonder if the Raiders fully blow up the roster after this latest decision.
