As a Colts fan, I watched this Tom Brady guy torment my hopes and dreams for years and years. Being one half of Tom Brady vs Peyton Manning, I watched their battles for years stressing on if Brady would finally choke just one game. He truly is one of, if not the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL and it’s hard to think of someone else who will pass him. If Tom Brady is truly done, it has been one amazing career.
Career Accolades
In his 23 years in the league, Brady has collected a lot of trophies and records. Brady has thrown for 89,214 yards and 649 touchdowns, which are both records. He was selected to play in 14 Pro Bowls. He has won 1 Comeback Player of the Year award, 2 Offensive Player of the Year awards, 3 MVP awards, 5 Super Bowl MVP awards and 7 Super Bowls (2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021). His career postseason success remains unrivaled as well. In addition to his record titles, Brady has the most Super Bowl appearances (10), playoff starts (48), playoff wins (35), playoff passing yards (13,400), and playoff passing touchdowns (88).
He sits atop a lot of records with the Patriots, and even with the Buccaneers who he was with for only three years. Brady’s seven championships are not only the most for any player, but also more than any single franchise has earned. He is the oldest player to win NFL MVP (age 40), and the oldest Super Bowl MVP (43). Brady put up video game numbers to end his career, and will no doubt be a first ballot Hall of Famer.
King of the Comeback
Brady made a living in the last minutes of games, and never ever seemed to be out of it. While 28-3 will be the best comeback ever, he was the king of the comeback long before this. From the 10+ point deficits, Tom Brady has the most in NFL history with 40. Second place is Drew Brees with 27…. Tom Brady made a living being the most feared opponent to root against or even bet on. Anytime he was in the game, you never felt like he was out of it. For fourth quarter comebacks, Brady has 44 in his career, with Peyton Manning a close second at 43. Brady also has the most game winning drives ever with 56, with Manning being a close second again. Tom Brady is truly one of the most clutch players in sports. EVER.
Football Legend
Brady began his career with the Patriots as a sixth-round pick in 2000. He would take over for an injured Drew Bledsoe the next year, and immediately led New England to its first Super Bowl win in franchise history. Alongside head coach Bill Belichick, Brady helped form the Patriots into the greatest dynasty in NFL history, with five more titles. He also had three further Super Bowl appearances, and a perfect 16-0 season (2007). After shocking the NFL world and leaving to go to the Buccaneers as a free agent in 2020, he led Tampa Bay to a Super Bowl title in his first season on the team. He would join Peyton Manning as the only quarterbacks to win a championship with two different teams.
He signed a 10-year, $375-million contract with Fox Sports this past summer to become an analyst on its top commentary team, and that will be where he heads next if he is done for sure. If he is truly done, he has had himself a story book career.
As a Colts fan I always hated to watch my team play this guy because he was so good. I will never forget the anger and frustration as a fan he brought me, but I cannot help but accept and recognize how great he truly was. You had one hell of a career Tom Brady, and I along with so many others will never forget how truly great you were.
Thank you 12.
