Welcome back to Washington Commanders training camp! It’s day nine already! No, you’re not crazy, you didn’t miss yesterday’s article. I skipped doing one of these for day eight because Ron gave the guys a pseudo day off with just a walkthrough in the bubble. I didn’t really feel like it was worth covering. As the kids would say, don’t @ me. Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Day 9 Notes:

  • Curtis Samuel worked on the side field today. I can already feel the negative comments coming. In the great words of Aaron Rodgers; “R-E-L-A-X.”
  • The linebacker situation is getting interesting. David Mayo is getting reps with the 1s. There was a retirement. It’s Holcomb, Davis, Mayo, and Hudson. It’s time for Ron to start working out some VETERAN linebackers.
  • Antonio Gibson had an inconsistent day today. I’m not worried, but slightly concerned about his status given how impressive Brian Robinson Jr. has looked. I like Gibson a lot; more than most. However, if he can’t hang onto the ball, then he’s not gonna hang on to his starting spot at running back.
  • Percy Butler is giving me 2020 Kam Curl vibes.
  • Cole Turner tweaked his hamstring. Gonna hope (and pray) that it’s nothing serious or lingering.
  • I really like our depth at offensive line.
  • I’ve been drinking the Kool-Aid on Jahan Dotson all offseason. I have not heard one negative word about him. I might be Ashburning myself, but I’m really thinking this kid is gonna be the next best thing on this team.
  • I forgot Casey Toohill existed until I was heavily reminded today. Dude stood out.

Training Camp Day 9

Here’s some footage and observations from Day 9 from the local media:

That is a wrap for day nine! I may or may not be going to the practice at FedEx tomorrow. Still up in the air. If I do, you probably won’t be getting one of these until very late tomorrow night or early Sunday morning. If I don’t go, you’ll still be getting it late tomorrow night, just not as late; practice doesn’t wrap up until around 9pm EST. Either way, stay tuned for more articles like this one after the Commanders next practice!
