In preparing for the 2021 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Nets researched former five-star recruit Cam Thomas. He was arguably the best scorer in the nation at LSU, notching all-SEC tournament honors in just 29 games played. Scouts and executives did not question his potential in the NBA.

As a rookie, Thomas learned how to score effectively from Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. At six feet four inches, Thomas adopted a wide offensive arsenal, making him unguardable on all three levels of the court.

A few seasons later, the all-time trio was split up, leaving Thomas with several other young talents to steer Brooklyn toward long-term success. Now, under a unique situation, the Nets will provide Thomas with a green light, hoping for consistency in attaining a top-eight seed.

Cam Thomas will finish as a potential all-star for the Brooklyn Nets next season.

Heading into the year, fans worldwide have dropped their expectations on the Nets as they traded star Mikal Bridges to New York. However, this is a mistake fans will regret with Cam Thomas under command.

Last season, Thomas averaged 22.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 66 games, shooting 44.2% from the field and 36.4% from three. Although they missed the postseason, the former LSU Tiger showcased what he can do as a second option next to Bridges.

With Bridges in New York, Thomas will be head coach Jordi Fernández’s first scoring option. He will be the star of the show each night, as opponents will search for ways to contain him offensively. There is no conveying what he will average with increased volume in the paint and beyond the arc.

If Thomas impresses the front office, he will be offered a near-max extension for the next 3-4 seasons. This is best for the team’s success, as he is only 22 with a passion to score the ball. Brooklyn will then build around Thomas and make a run for the NBA Finals in the near future.
