Who will be the person to end Roman Reigns’ title run? That is the question now that Wrestlemania 39 has come and gone after another controversial victory. Reigns is now entering hall-of-fame territory regarding championship runs. Reign’s title run will surpass 1,000 days as champion in light of his recent victory. Many believed that Cody Rhodes would be the one to end the title run. Although that didn’t happen there are a few people that could be the ones to conquer the tribal chief.
Seth Rollins
First up on this list is Reigns’ former shield brother Seth Rollins. Rollins and Reigns have the history that would be perfect in a storyline. As well as being former team members they were also rivals too. When Rollins turned his back on the shield essentially is when the rivalry began. Rollins is the biggest current WWE superstar on this list. A Rollins vs Reigns match is big enough to main event any premium live event. As a matter of fact, there are rumors that both Reigns and Rollins want to main event Wrestlemania 40. Time will tell if that does happen and if Reigns will still have the titles, but what we do know is that Reigns has never defeated Rollins.
The Rock
A match of this magnitude could only be the main event at Wrestlemania. The Rock and Reigns are real-life cousins and for years there have been rumors of Rock and Reigns wanting to face each other. For example, it was heavily rumored that a main event at Wrestlemania 39 in Hollywood would be Reigns vs Rock. However, that did not happen because Rock said he wouldn’t have enough time to get into shape for a match. This match makes the most sense for the storyline. The tribal chief looking to defeat the man that transcended the art of wrestling for their family. This type of match would send echoes all throughout sports entertainment.
Bray Wyatt
The match that netted Reigns his title originally was a triple-threat match that Bray Wyatt was in. Wyatt was the WWE champion going into the match and lost it to Reigns. However, Reigns never directly pinned or beat Wyatt in that match. As well as there was never a rematch for Wyatt. Facing Wyatt would bring this storyline full circle seeing how this is the person that Reigns got the title from to start his title run. When Wyatt returned to WWE there were talks of having the Wyatt vs Reigns rematch. If Wyatt is the guy to beat Reigns it will go a long way in restoring the credibility of a superstar that desperately needs it.
Jey Uso
During this bloodline storyline, Reigns and his cousin Jey Uso have not always seen eye to eye. Since their main event match of Uso acknowledging Reigns the WWE has been teasing turmoil between the two. For instance, Uso was conflicted about choosing between the bloodline and Sami Zayn. For months now there have been teases of Uso leaving the group. Turmoil within the group could lead to a massive fall that could eventually lead to Reigns vs Uso. Given that, there are rumors that Uso vs Reigns will be the main event of Summerslam 2023. Uso could be the most likely candidate to beat Reigns.
Honorable Mention
Cody Rhodes could always double and face Reigns again to finally beat him and finish the story. This year’s loss could be a massive setup for next year’s Wrestlemania main event. In which the historic Roman Reigns title run will finally come to an end.
