2024 NBA Draft Profile: N’Faly Dante

Much like Adem Bona, former Oregon C N’Faly Dante is a more traditional big man. Years ago, he was projected to be a one-and-done but he had some setbacks due to injuries in his time on Dana Altman’s roster. He spent five years in college and had appealed for another year. However, The NCAA denied that, forcing Dante to test his luck in the draft or overseas.

When healthy, Dante is a double-double machine. His size and strength allow him to dominate on both ends of the floor.

Height: 6’10″ (7’5.5″ wingspan, 9′5 standing reach)

Weight: 260 lbs

Age: 22.7

Position: Center

Strengths

Potential

Dante still has a lot of upside that could be developed at the next level. He has a great motor and love for the game. He does the things that he needs to help his team. If he can stay healthy, whoever drafts him shouldn’t have a hard time developing him.

Post Threat

With his size and strength, N’Faly Dante establishes good positioning down low. He’s able to get off the ground well and finishes dunks with ease. He can catch the lob pass and wide radius around the basket. He’s an efficient scorer in the post. His shot has good form and is coming along in the mid-range. No guarantees on if he’ll be a stretch big or not.

Defense

Just like on offense, Dante’s size and strength allow him to establish good positioning on defense. He protects the paint and shrinks the floor with his size. He has an instinct for blocking shots and knows how to communicate well with his team.

Weaknesses

Still Developing on Offense

Most of his points come from within the paint. He never attempted any threes in his time at Oregon, and his mid-range game is still a work in progress. He has a limited scoring range with most of his shots. He still needs to find his technique on offense.

Free Throws

In late-game situations, it would be likely that the opposing team would hack Dante. He wasn’t a great shooter at the charity stripe at the college level.

There’s potential for Dante to get selected late in the second round.
