A confident and on-form Real Madrid were hosts to Celta Vigo. The visitors were winless in their last three matches and needed points in order to better last season’s tally. Asensio replaced Rodrygo in the starting lineup after his midweek brace against Chelsea. Can they replicate Villarreal and stun the Bernabeu or will Real’s quality show once again?
Slow Start
Celta were comfortable with conceding possession to Los Blancos. They set up in a low block and aimed to frustrate Madrid.
However, the hosts didn’t pose much of a goal threat and struggled to break them down.
Applying Pressure
After the slow start, Ancelotti’s men began to apply more pressure and move the ball with more pace and precision.
Despite the dominance, Celta’s keeper was yet to be tested.
Asensio opens the scoring
In the 42nd minute, Ceballos saw a blindside run from Vini and then played a lovely, weighted pass to the Brazilian. He then found Marco Asensio who dispatched the chance with his team’s first shot on target.
Bullet header from Eder
Militao scored his fifth league goal of the season just two minutes after the second half commenced. Asensio put his corner into a dangerous zone and Militao attacked the ball and powered his header past Villar.
The French Boys

Camavinga and Tchouameni were almost flawless throughout the match. They both showed their quality on the ball while remaking steadfast defensively.
We even had the opportunity to see them play together in a double pivot which is always a positive.
Another clean sheet
Madrid struggled post-World Cup. Both defensively and offensively. But this is now three clean sheets in a row and six in the last eight. It seems like Carlo has found the right defensive structure and balance which is important to endure this part of the season.
Gabri Veiga
The Spanish midfielder has been linked to Real Madrid throughout the season. Carlo Ancelotti spoke highly of him in his pre-match press conference and many La Liga pundits and fans rate the player highly. Today he had his Bernabeu audition and he didn’t fail to impress.
Celta didn’t have many spells of dominance, but most of their productivity in the first half came from his feet. We can’t come to a conclusion on the player after one match, but it would’ve definitely given a clearer picture on a potential signing.
