Following the postseason, Golden State Warriors icon Klay Thompson made it relatively clear he was searching for a new environment. Whether that was across the street in Los Angeles or on another contender, Thompson was ready to move on. Golden State quickly shipped the five-time all-star to Dallas and landed a three-point threat in Buddy Hield to fill the opening.

Although Hield has been one of the league’s most consistent three-point shooters for nearly a decade, he will have a prominent role to fill under head coach Steve Kerr. Thompson’s job wasn’t straightforward as he seemed to be the perfect fit next to Stephen Curry, a two-time MVP.

However, Hield was the right man to call. Aside from an elite three-point jumper, the former sixth-overall pick is an excellent playmaker. He understands how to read close-outs and attacks the basket, making the right read without risking a turnover.

Buddy Hield will crush the expectations set by fans in his first season with the Golden State Warriors.

While the bay area may be a new scene, Buddy Hield is no stranger to change. He has played for four teams since being drafted in 2016, giving him a variety of experience to help guide the Golden State Warriors.

Last season, Hield played for the Indiana Pacers before being traded to Philadelphia at the deadline. In total, he averaged 12.1 points and 3.2 rebounds on a remarkable 38.6% from distance. Health has never been an issue, as Hield has played most games throughout his career.

The only area Hield may find trouble is defensively. Though he is an average defender, Thompson was one of the best the Warriors franchise has ever seen. This is not an easy find, but the coaching staff can orchestrate the lineups accordingly to meet Hield’s strengths.

Next season could be the best of Hield’s eight-year career. As one of the top options next to a superstar, playing on a team fighting to make the playoffs, Hield’s potential is boundless. If Golden State cracks a top-eight seed, Hield will undoubtedly be one of the main reasons.
