Less than a year ago, QB DJ Uiagalelei landed in Corvallis via the transfer portal. He remains to be one of the most experienced quarterbacks in College Football currently. It appears that he is looking for a new home in 2024, per reports from Pete Nakos of On3 Sports.
The former Clemson Tiger still could commit to the 2024 NFL Draft, but is keeping his options open by entering the portal as well. With Jonathan Smith leaving for Michigan State, it was only a matter of time until some players in Corvallis announced they were leaving.
Uiagalelei had 2,638 yards passing and 21 touchdowns with seven picks this season at Oregon State. He also picked up 219 yards and six additional scores on the ground. The Beavers went 8-4 during the regular season. They will be bowl-eligible, so it could be interesting to see if the 22-year-old plays in that bowl game.
He has the intangibles that all College Football programs want, he just hasn’t been able to put it all together. Everyone was expecting to make a jump this last year with Oregon State, but that was not the case. Perhaps wherever DJ Uiagalelei lands through the transfer portal this year will help get him there.
Uiagaleli joins a long list of Power 5 Quarterbacks who have already entered the portal. A list that includes Michigan State’s Sam Leavitt, Duke’s Riley Leonard, Minnesota’s Athan Kaliakmanis and many others. On Nov. 24, DJ played against his younger brother Matayo Uiagalelei for the first time. The latter is a true freshman at the University of Oregon. Maybe, there’s a chance that the brothers play together next season.
