#5 Georgia vs #3 Clemson was a slow game that did not show too much of the team’s offenses. Georgia won a defensive battle with the score only being 10 to 3. Clemson’s offense could not find any rhythmed with their new quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei who had 178 passing yards and an interception. J.T. Daniels did about the same with 135 passing yards and an interception. Georgia’s defense held Clemson to a measly 2 rushing yards in 23 rushing attempts. Georgia had 256 total yards to Clemson’s 180 total yards.

First Half

The first quarter was slow, and no offense could find a rhythm that worked. The quarter started off with many punts and it also ended with punts. Going to the second quarter, Georgia had a chance to put points on the board with a field goal but missed the 36-yard field goal. The next two drives were punts until Clemson punted and Kendal Milton fumbled the ball and Clemson recovered. It truly looked like they were going to have a drive to take the lead. Five plays into the drive, Uiagalelei throw an interception to Christopher Smith who returned it for 74 yards and a touchdown. That was the only score of the first half which made it 7 to 0.

Second Half

The second half was not any better than the first. Clemson started with the ball in the third quarter, and nothing came out of the drive, so they punted. During Georgia’s next drive, JT Daniels pass was intercepted by Baylon Spector. It looked like Clemson would maybe have a spark, but their drive lasted only 3 plays and was for only negative nine yards. On the next drive for Georgia, they scored their final points, but it was only a field goal. The quarter ended with Georgia up 10 to 0.

The fourth quarter was just like the rest. Georgia started the quarter off with a punt which led to a Clemson field goal. They tried pushing the game into overtime, but their efforts were met with Georgia’s defense holding them. Clemson’s last chance to tie was ended when they could not get the first down on a fourth down.

This Georgia and Clemson game was not the most exciting, but it showed that they are two teams with good defenses. Clemson must find their footing this season otherwise if they lose another game, they will be out of the playoff picture. Georgia moves on from this and maybe sees that their offense needs to really step up if they want to win a national championship.
