The WWE has seen a lot of criticism for their decision to bring The Rock back to face Roman Reigns at Mania, with many fans thinking it should be Cody Rhodes’ match. What if the match wasn’t for the title at all? What if the match was just for the Lufala and the right to call themselves “The Trible Chief”.
After the segment on Monday between Rhodes and Seth Rollins it was hard to make a point where Rhodes doesn’t win the “Workhorse Championship” or as Rollins later called it “The Dusty title.” Sure, it’s not the title that his father held but maybe it’s part of the plan to bring back the Winged Eagle.
We have seen Cody and Seth before, but not for a title. However, this is the Raw Championship. Cody himself mentioned that he would want to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Maybe this is all part of the story. Lets take a look back to March 3rd, 2023. Roman made a very solid point asking Rhodes if he’s ever won a World Heavyweight Title in the WWE. That answer would be no, he hasn’t won a World Heavyweight Championship in the WWE. Beating Seth would allow him to become a World Heavyweight Champion. Rhodes also made a solid point 10 months ago when he talked to Roman. Here’s what he said:
“Jey is gonna leave you, & then Jimmy will leave you too, Solo leaves you too. There you’ll be, a man without a family, a roman with no more reigns, a chief without a tribe.”
So if the WWE continues to go with the direction now, maybe this is all part of the plan. We have seen Jey leave Roman already. Now we would just need Jimmy to do so, which he could leave for Raw to build a storyline against Jey. Solo could then end up siding with “The Rock” as he was sent by the elders, then afterward being pushed as a singles competitor outside of the Bloodline. The Rock would be considered an elder of the family.
One thing to keep in mind though, is if the WWE goes with that direction they could make it for just the Lufala and not the WWE Championship. If Rock were to win, it would make him the Tribal Chief which would cause Roman to have no help after Mania.
From my perspective, I don’t see a scenario where Triple H has anyone not named Cody Rhodes take the title off of Roman. Especially with Cody saying he was still coming for him. But following what Cody said a year ago would follow the Story, which is to take everything away from Roman… not just the title.
There are reports that the Rock pushed for the spot that Cody Rhodes fought to get for the second year in a row. As well as that WWE creative members aren’t happy.
Here’s the steps of how this could work out:
1. The Rock challenges Roman for the Lufala
2. Jimmy sent to Raw to build a feud with Jey (maybe a trade)
3. Solo sides with The Rock
4. Cody defeats Seth Rollins for WHC
5. The Rock defeats Roman for the Lufala
6. Cody challenges Roman for the Undisputed WWE Championship
