Jessica Mendoza

If you don’t know who Jessica Mendoza is, then I hate to tell you, but you’ve been living under a rock. She has been a staple for ESPN Baseball and Softball Broadcasts. Her contract was coming up and while, the details haven’t been disclosed ESPN and Jessica Mendoza have reached an extension. The ESPN PR account was the first to report the news.

Jessica Mendoza joined ESPN in 2007 and has continually worked her way to the top. In 2015, she became the first woman to serve as an analyst on nationally televised MLB games. Since then, she has become one of the leading voices for ESPN’s baseball coverage across all levels. Not just the MLB, but the Little League World Series as well. She has also called Softball at every level for ESPN.

Not only has she been phenomenal on the headset, but she had a stellar Softball career herself. A career that resulted in lots of hardware. She was a two-time Olympian and a member of the U.S. Women’s National team from 2001-10. She won a Gold medal in 2004 and a Silver medal in 2008. Not to mention, she’s a three-time World Champion (2002, 2006, 2010) and World Cup Champion (2006, 2007, 2010) in addition to being a two-time Pan American Gold Medalist (2003, 2007). Mendoza was named as the USA Softball Athlete of the Year in 2007. In 2019, she was inducted into the National Softball Hall of Fame.

It was a hell of a career. She was arguably one of the best softball players in the 2000s. Following her playing days, ESPN was quick to scoop her up and she has not hit the brakes. It sounds like there’s a lot in store for her this season. So if you enjoy watching/listening to Jessica Mendoza, you’re probably excited to hear that.
