Sunday, 09/18/2022, the Las Vegas Aces won the WNBA Championship. With the win the Aces give the city of Las Vegas its first ever professional sports championship. The Aces beat the Connecticut Sun in 4 games, winning game four 78-71.

Las Vegas Aces: Champions

The Aces were led by their big 3; A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, and Chelsea Gray. Gray took home Finals MVP as she led this team in scoring throughout the season and continued to be a force in the postseason.

Chelsea Gray averaged 22 points, 7 assist a game through out the playoffs; shooting 54% from three point land and 61% overall.

Las Vegas’ road to the finals went through the Phoenix Mercury, and Seattle Storm. Both teams having legends on the roster in Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird. Winning all three series including the finals in convincing fashion.

Long Time Coming

The Aces have been a franchise since 1997, relocating three times before finding a home in Las Vegas in 2017.

With this Championship it is safe to say they have put their names in history and will forever be remembered as Las Vegas’ first professional champions. Go get fitted for that ring!

Becky Hammon, who has a rich history in basketball herself, both women’s and men’s. Being the first woman to be an assistant coach in the NBA. Now in her rookie season as a head coach in the WNBA, winning a championship. She also had an illustrious career herself as a player.

Time To Celebrate

If you google the Las Vegas Aces, fireworks will appear on your screen. I am sure that is only a small percentage of what happened in Las Vegas last night. Champagne was probably flowing until the early morning.

After partying in Connecticut’s locker rooms the team flew home and was welcomed with more celebrations. After all they deserve every thing and more.

The Las Vegas Aces brought these two trophies home last night.
