The New York Mets have received some horrible news heading into the 2023 season. As it turns out they won’t hear any trumpets in the ninth inning this season due to Edwin Diaz getting injured during the World Baseball Classic. Check out our New York Mets 2023 Season Preview:

Though, even with the loss of their closer, the Mets still slot to be one of the best teams in the MLB. They almost had Carlos Correa this offseason, but he eventually returned to the Twins due to failed physicals. As it appears, the Mets are going all in to win.

Heading into this upcoming season, they may have the best 1-2-3 punch in baseball. At least in terms of rotations in the National League. Both, Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer are getting up there in age but they show no signs of regression. They also added an international Japanese pitcher: Kodai Senga. He has a pitch called the Ghost Fork.

The Mets extended the contract of National League Batting Champ Jeff McNeil. They also brought in Omar Narvaez for the near future at Catcher, but sooner rather than later he may be mentoring fellow Venezuelan, Francisco Alvarez. The latter is the Mets No. 1 prospect, and is already being projected as the next great catcher in Mets history.
