Without a doubt, we have seen many outstanding and creative goals in the National Hockey League. However, with the year 2022 coming to an end tonight this is a recap of my top three favorite goals from this year.

3. Connor McDavid vs. Nashville Predators

Throughout his career, Connor McDavid has proven to be an elite goalscorer. His ability to skate past every player on the ice and put up a great shot is unmatched. In this goal, he makes it look too easy and didn’t have any hesitation while on the ice. McDavid doesn’t lack confidence and plays up to the hype everyone gave him.

2. Cale Makar OT Winning Goal

At just 24 years old, Cale Makar has already made a name for himself in the National Hockey League. This goal was easier this year as the Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup. This goal is a highlight goal because of Makar’s awareness. By awareness I mean, the way he was able to lure in his defender which in this case was Kirby Dach and quickly turn and charge toward the goal. This is the type of thing we usually see basketball players do but Cale was able to do it on ice successfully. From going forehand and backhand before scoring top shelf against a great goalie in Marc-Andre Fleury this goal was one to remember.

1. Trevor Zegras’ Michigan Goals

When it comes to hockey goals, the “Michigan” goal is very controversial. I think goals like those are the ones that make hockey even more fun and enjoyable. Being able to watch the players have fun is what it’s all about. Trevor Zegras was able to pull off the lacrosse-style goal a few times in his young career. This goal stands out because he first attempted a between-the-legs shot but when that was denied he was quickly able to scoop the puck up and put it in around fellow teammate Sonny Milano. He was able to pull all that off in one motion.
