Washington Commanders Training Camp Recap: Day 2

We’re here to recap the Commanders second day of training camp. It was an interesting day of practice and there’s a lot to get excited about. There’s also a bit of disappointment as there was a retirement announced after practice.

Day 2 Notes:

  • Antonio Gibson is working on the side field for the second day in a row.
  • The defense has dominated in the first two days of camp. Good sign or bad sign? You tell me.
  • Montez Sweat in particular had a monster day. Hopefully this translates when we get to the regular.
  • The corners really seem to be keeping up and locking down our receivers. Could that be the quarterbacks fault for being early/late/inaccurate? Sure. It could also be that the secondary is starting to gel in their second year together. This is largely the same group as last year. I’m hoping it’s the latter.
  • The starting linebackers seem to performing well. Would still like to see a veteran added but this is a plus.
  • I’m calling it now: Chris Harris is going to be a head coach in five years.
  • Definitely a surprise announcement at the end of practice today.

That’s a wrap for Day 2! Can’t wait to see more improvement on this defense. Hopefully we can soon see the offense hit their stride. Stay tuned for more articles like this one after the Commanders next practice!
