Is the day finally here? The day that all Seahawks fans, and NFL fans for that matter, were expecting to happen at the beginning of the season? Did Geno Smith finally write back? On the outside, seeing the Seahawks losing 31-24 to the Panthers of Carolina and looking at the box score to see 2 INT (not including what should have been a third) you would have to assume that we have seen the best of Geno and these Seahawks this season.
If thats how you feel, you would be absolutely wrong. Despite not having the best passing game of the season, Geno still managed to throw for 264 yards and 3 Touchdowns. Pair that with the fact that their top 2 RB’s Kenneth Walker III and Deejay Dallas were out (top 3 if you count Rashaad Penny) helps explain the subpar offensive output we are used to. That alone is reason enough to not give up on this team this season, but if you pair it with the Absence of DE Shelby Harris, who has been a great player on that D-Line, and the loss of NT Al Woods at halftime, you can see just how the Panthers were able to run all over the Hawks.
Positives
On the flip side of things, both DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett recorded a Touchdown in two straight games, and Geno has been getting consistently good protection. The Secondary was pretty lockdown as well, with Sam Darnold only throwing for 120 Yards and 1 TD. Plus the Hawks moved up to the 2nd overall pick in the draft thanks to the Broncos loss to the Chiefs.
I don’t think this team is done, and they certainly are not out of playoff contention. They hold their future in their hands and have a massive 2 weeks coming up against the 49ers Thursday and the Chiefs week 16. Do not count this team out just yet.
