Justin FIelds

Saturday, March 16 was a day of joy for Justin Fields and the beginning of his new career, as he’s teamed up with Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fields’ time in Chicago definitely didn’t turn out the way both parties had hoped, but looking back at it Fields did all he physically could to cement himself as their franchise quarterback. Without many weapons and a lack of veteran assistance by his side, he was left to figure it all out on his own. However, now Fields has the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks the game has seen in Russell Wilson.

New Beginnings for Justin Fields

If this move turns out the way Steelers fans hope, this Wilson-Fields dynamic could turn into something very similar to what the Green Bay Packers did with Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love. Justin Fields was never formally introduced into the NFL, rather he was thrown into the thick of it and was expected to produce at the highest level. It wasn’t a surprise that he didn’t help Chicago win and the only thing the Bears can blame is themselves.

Fields showed a lot of promise in his time in Chicago and building a solid core around him in this years draft would’ve been the way to go. Coming off his best season so far his upside is extremely promising, but whatever, bad teams will do what bad teams always do and that’s do the wrong thing. We will see how this new era of most likely Caleb Williams will turn out.

What I Like & Don’t Like

  1. Justin Fields’ ability to learn behind one of the best to ever do it: Russell Wilson is also starting a new chapter in his career with Pittsburgh so navigating through this journey together will be beneficial. This new beginning for Justin Fields and Russell Wilson will be awesome to see.
  2. Pittsburgh’s Vision: The Steelers spent pocket change securing their new and improved QB room and if this move works out the way they know it should this will be one of the best moves in sports history. Justin Fields is a top 3 dual-threat quarterback in the NFL and the Steelers are going to have a lot of fun calling plays with him under center.
  3. Chicago Bears: How often to rookie quarterbacks make an immediate impact in the league? Not very often. Getting rid of a similar QB to who they are going to draft in Justin Fields will be the biggest mistake they could’ve made. Bears fans and football fans saw the potential of Fields starting to emerge at the end of last season, but the hype around Caleb Williams just consumed them. This was a mistake.
